Summary: | 碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 台灣文學系 === 104 === This thesis takes ritual languages of Paiwan Tiuwabar in Daren Township, Taitung aiming to analyze the metaphorical usage of its ritual phrases. The aspect of morphology is firstly taken into the analysis for the structure of ritual language as the basic understanding of the phrases of ritual language. After the analysis using morphology, the Conceptual Metaphor Theory proposed by Lakoff and Johnson (1980) is used to analyze the metaphorical performance of ritual phrases in Maleveq, Masalut, Malada, kilingedjelj. Ontological metaphor, orientational metaphor, and structural metaphor which are included in Conceptual Metaphor Theory are further adopted in the analysis for a more profound discussion. Ontological metaphor is distinguished as metaphor and metonymy in the analysis of ritual phrases in this study. This thesis aims not only to provide understanding of metaphorical usage in Paiwan through Conceptual Metaphor but also to organize the way that the ancestors think while they were creating and inventing the ritual phrases.
