碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 歷史學系碩士在職專班 === 104 === SUMMARY The discussion subject of this thesis was the regional development and ethnic groups migration in the Aligang area of Southern Taiwan in 18th century. The theme in the study is to discuss whether Swatelauw has the old and new location amd the Chuiketham in Tianliao was the branch of Swatelauw. It is also discuss whether the Mu-le-sia had migrated from Tadackjan to Wuluo in the early years of Qing Dynasty. Furthermore, about the study of whether Swatelauw and Mu-le-sia had migrated from original habitations, the strategy of frontier guard system and boundary defense system implemented during the Qianlong period was considered by this article as the reason why a great amount of both indigenous people of Swatelauw and Mu-le-sia had migrated from original habitations to areas situated along mountains, which made those who stayed in native habitations become the ethnic minority of that region. As for the study of Aligang reclamation conducted by Han Chinese in 18th century, this article’s primary aims were to not only discuss the earliest location of Han Chinese village in Aligang, explore the route of Aligang reclamation of Han Chinese, analyze the direction of development and reclamation activities of Han Chinese as well as reclamation activities of the local gentry and powerful families in Aligang.
