Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立成功大學 === 高階管理碩士在職專班(EMBA) === 104 === SUMMARY Background: Ageing Population is rising rapidly in Taiwan. The population of traditional agricultural towns mostly is elder in southern Taiwan. Health problems have cropped up. Objective: Under the concept that prevention is better than cure, we want to explore the effect of the main factors in elderly adult population using preventive health services in Nan-Hsing Village, Annan District, and Tainan city. Methods: This article is through structured questionnaire as research tool and sample survey is purposive sampling method. A logistic regression model is established to explore whether the respondents utilized adult preventive health services in the past year (dependent variables). Independent variables include health self-assessment, history of illness/ history of falls, urinary incontinence screening, use habit of medical services, healthy behaviors, depression orientation and other demographic variables. Results: This study find that health self-assessment (OR = 0.47), Monthly income (OR = 0.27), the age (OR = 1.04), and disease history (OR = 3.23) are statistically significant under 0.05. People with the higher the health self-assessment scores are the less inclined to use health preventive services. Persons with monthly income under 10,000 NT dollars are more possible to use health care services. The older people have orientation toward using health care services. Those who have disease history are possible to use health care services. Conclusion: The preventive health services promote mental health and achieve saving medical resource. This study finds that the elder people are limited to work, lack of health information. The willingness of using health care services depends on the personal habits in daily life. Limiting to the time and place of large medical institutions, people do not arrange medical check-up specially. The elderly people having no immediate medical needs have fewer tendencies to use preventive health service. We suggest that the relevant authorities can popularize health care services through small clinics for small groups, overcome geographical environment factors for elderly people in remote district and promote adult preventive care services utilization in other aspects.
