Through joint design, the oppositional relationship between elements can be compromised. The joints is not only be used as a tool to demonstrate the resolution when one element meets another, but also is one of the main elements for expression in space. It demonstrates both the ornament and functional value in architecture. Through joint design, it traces back to the foundation of architecture, which revealed the technique and beauty of architecture.The thesis takes reference from the joint design between column and beam's structural systems, to interpret aesthetic and technique value of joints in tectonics of architecture. The research follows five steps: 1. Joint morphology: Study the constructional morphology of joint elements. 2. Joint program: Through strategize the program of joint design, construct the prototype of joints. 3. Initial design: The conceptual mold design can be originated and composed from the traditional joint structure, through adjustment mechanism on each joint design. 4. Joint Expression: Expression of each conceptual mold design in place, which pursuant to tectonics in architecture. 5. Proposal in space: The narration of each joint design in place can enhance the strong identity of the space as a whole, strengthen and lengthen each dimension in time and universe. As if the presence of each joint are vocabulary, to interweave in between the sea of paper space. The research methodology has shown different types of design for joints.
