In this study, we combine two aspects of remanufacturing, namely product acquisition management and secondary markets. Acquisitions by a remanufacturer are typically highly variable in terms of quality. Since sorting is not perfectly accurate, misclassification errors can affect the optimal decisions in the reverse supply chain. We focus on the optimal collection quantity for the remanufacturer under uncertain demand. We characterise the optimal solution and then analyze some numerical examples to obtain insights into the effects of expected profit and acquisition quantity. It was discovered in this research that the acquisition quantity increases, and the remanufacturer’s profit decreases when misclassification errors increase. The expected profit increases in the sales price in both the primary market and secondary market. Acquisition quantity increases, and total profit decreases when misclassification errors increase.
