However, because of the gravity effects of the ram module, the overhanging boring spindle also deformed more, leading to poor straightness and a Therefore, the reduction or compensation of the deformation of the ram spindle has become an important issue for the application of the horizontal bring milling machine accuracy.
This study designed a rod compensation system to reduce the deformation variation and increase the precision of the spindle ram module during the feeding. Moreover, a proportional valve with a pressure sensor is used to monitor and adjust the compensation pressure in time. The result of this experiment shows that the compensation method can be applied to the rod maximum amount of ram deformation, improved from 30μm to ± 1μm, and linear precision of the ram is effectively controlled of 2μm or less, so that the accuracy of performance ram-type spindle is higher than international norms and increases the value of machinery.
