The stresses restrain in the growth of plants and induce the sexual variation of flowers. This study is to investigate the effect of higher root temperature in winter season on plant growth and development of ‘Tainung No. 2’ papaya. The research of raising root temperature in winter was conducted during 2014.12.25 to 2015.03.03 and 2015.12.16 to 2016.03.29. When the root temperature was controlled at 27 ℃, plant height, trunk diameter and the longest root length were increased to 153 %, 141 % and 132 % in first year, and were increased to 136%, 116% and 146 % in second year. Blade length and width of the treatment groups were not significantly increased, but the chlorophylls content was significantly higher. Fresh and dry weight of the treatment groups showed the trend to be increasing. Total soluble sugar content of leaves in control group was higher than in treatment group as 186 % and 145%. On the other hand, the marco elements content (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) of the treatment groups were significantly higher than control groups, but the micro elements content (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu) of the treatment groups were not significantly increased. The research of cooling root temperature in summer was conducted during 2015.05.19 to 2015.07.27 and 2015.08.14 to 2015.11.18. This study is to investigate the effect of lower root temperature in summer season on plant growth and development of ‘Tainung No. 2’ papaya. The treatment groups of low root temperature were controlled at 23 ℃. But there were no significant difference about the plant growth and nutritional status between the treatment groups and the control groups. 林慧玲 2016 學位論文 ; thesis 65 zh-TW
