Summary: | 博士 === 國立中興大學 === 科技管理研究所 === 104 === The collaborative work of distributed team members has become a common occurrence in software development projects. Thus, support of Collaborative Information Systems (CIS) is considered critical to a project’s success. The current study investigates the role of CIS service-characteristics, specifically, service quality and service convenience on teamwork and software development project success, from the software developers’ perspective. DeLone and McLean’s (D&M) Information System (IS) Success Model was used as the basis for developing a theoretical framework using the following success indicators – teamwork quality, teamwork performance, and project success in terms of software quality and project performance. In order to verify the hypothesized relationships, the data from 154 Indian and 72 Taiwanese software firms were collected using a questionnaire and tested with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. Our results confirm that collaborative IS services as well as teamwork are central to software development project success. Results further reveal that the impacts of service characteristics on teamwork and project differ between the Indian and the Taiwanese software firms. In addition, this study sheds light on cultural differences in Indian and Taiwanese software firms. We believe that the findings of this study will be extremely helpful to project managers in software development firms.
