Summary: | 碩士 === 國立政治大學 === 俄羅斯研究所 === 104 === Due to the rapid development of the Internet, the world’s population using the Internet has substantially increased which stimulates the media environment in Central Asia and the Caucasus. Unlike the one-way communication in email, printed material and mobile phone text message, the advent of social media has clearly changed how we interact and communicate with each other.
The terrorist organizations in Central Asia and the Caucasus have acknowledged the common usage in social networking services and turn to use social media as its propaganda tool to connect the potential jihadists around the world and spread out its radical ideology.
Therefore, this paper chooses Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and Caucasus Emirate as case study and uses the concept of political communication to examine the use and the effect of social media which used by the two terrorist groups.
In these two cases, this paper discovers that in the interaction process with message receivers, the more frequent use of social media to spread out propaganda information, the more likely the message receivers will be affected and the message communicators are more efficiently to achieve their purpose.
