Therefore, the government places its developmental priorities of rural regeneration on encouraging village residents to participate in public affairs, promoting rejuvenation and reuse of the environment and space, raising the awareness of local cultural assets, protecting environmental resources of rural villages and developing the unique characteristics of local industries following the passage of the Rural Regeneration Act. Through transformation of the country’s overall rural environment and rebirth of culture and industries, sustainable developments of rural production, living and the environment can be reinforced. The passing of Rural Revitalization Regulation in 2008 has had a tremendous impact on future development of rural communities. Within the 38 articles defined in 4 chapters, existing farming and fishing villages, indigenous tribes, and other off-island and remote areas are facing a never-before-seen challenge. Approximately six hundred thousand residents in these communities have witnessed the differences that have occurred with great expectation. The differences are evident in various t facets of life and culture. The challenges and difficulties faced by communities, limitations and expectations can all be taken into consideration through the writing of a rural revitalization proposal. The proposal prioritizes items based on feasibility, Overall and detail plans which include new infrastructure supplemented by community-oriented activities can be carried out in installments over a few years. With community consensus, community submits plans to government agencies for evaluation and review. In the process, the residents help share the pressure and responsibilities and take on an active role in establishing a spatial structure and cultural environment unique to their own community.
