The higher reading ability means possibility to obtain a higher level of income and also to be more competitive. Thus, how to enhance children’s reading ability has become a major issue in education worldwide. By applying digital teaching aids in the classroom, children can be inspired to learn in a more interactive and fun learning environment. With teacher’s guiding, children can work together to discuss the contents through sharing digital picture books and to achieve in-depth understanding of the text by incorporating reading comprehension strategies. Based on the above statements, this study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of digital picture book teaching in primary classroom. The purposes of this research were to examine:(1) the differences on children’s reading comprehension between traditional storybook reading and digital picture book reading, (2) the effect of digital picture book teaching on young learners’ reading comprehension, (3) the relationship between students’ reading comprehension achievement and their attitudes towards digital picture book reading. The design of the study was based on quasi-experimental method and the results showed: (1) the experimental group performed significantly better than the traditional group in terms of reading comprehension, (2) the experimental group performed significantly improvement in reading attitude, (3) there was no significant difference between reading achievement and reading attitude of digital picture book group. Both groups revealed no significant differences on reading attitude, ( 4) Over ninety percentage of the experimental group students revealed a positive attitude towards digital picture book reading.
