Therefore, people start to research and develop the alternative growing way of foods, and also try to improve the capacity of plants via the latest technologies. The plant factory, a new planting technique, is developed on this demand. After years of efforts and improvements, there has a preliminary prototype for the plant factory. Sunshine is one of the dominant factors for plant growth. Therefore, this thesis focuses on the study of light source required for the growth of plants. A RGB LED drive with light recipe verification system is proposed. The presented system consists of the RGB LED light bar driver with constant current controllers, the wireless remote data transmission with Bluetooth protocol, a spectrometer, and the user interface. For a long time operation, the light quality of the LED will decay owing to the temperature rise effect. The spectrometer is employed to detect the corresponding light qualities of the LED light source. An optical wavelength compensation method, which is achieved by regulating the luminance of the R, G, and B LEDs individually, is proposed to provide a constant light recipe for plants to balance the color temperature of the LED due to the decay effect. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively compensate the light decay of the LED and provide a stable light recipe for the particular plant.
