In this study, polypropylene was to form thermoplastic films by using an extrusion machine. This polypropylene film was then laminated with a carbon fiber-reinforced composite plate by the hot-pressure process using an autoclave, and consequently the composite surface materials were made. The injection process and in-mold decoration technique were performed to form sandwiches with composite surfaces. The mechanical properties of these sandwich structures are strongly dependent on the adhesive property between the core and surfaces. Various temperatures and pressures in the hot-pressure process were considered as the experimental parameters in this study, and the effect caused by these parameters on the mechanical properties of the sandwich structures was investigated via peeling, three-point bending, and tensile tests. According to the experimental results, increasing temperature in the hot-pressure process resulted in the improvement on the adhesion property and the mechanical properties of the sandwiches. However, the increase in pressure resulted in the decrease in the interface adhesion, and consequently the lower strength of the mechanical properties of the sandwich structures with composite surfaces were measured.
