碩士 === 崑山科技大學 === 視覺傳達設計研究所 === 104 === Nowadays, under the pressure of low salary and inflation, there are more and more single people and DINKs. We are now having aging society with fewer children. During my study in graduate school, I have been through marriage, pregnancy and baby delivery. I encountered huge transformation psychologically and physically. As the first time being a mother, I have more responsibilities and care towards life. It is an important milestone for a child to reach by one month of age. In order to encourage the new age parents to do Zua Zou, a Chinese folk draw lots tradition usually held when baby turns one year old, this paper focuses on one-year-old ritual of all life-cycle rituals and grasp the idea of this ritual as the resource of my creation. When the child is one year old, he or she will do “Zua Zou” which is to pick up one item among other ten or more items in a bamboo rice thieve, in order to predict his or her developmental inclination. Moreover, people now tend to interact with products by their appearance, totem, color, material quality, package and usage to obtain a brand new and cool experience with satisfaction. Cool products are now important features of aesthetic attributes. Fun and cool experience conforms to our emotional needs. This paper transforms the idea and meaning of Zua Zou into a creation of 12 professional roles and applies to cups. The purpose of this paper is to present a series of professional Zua Zou cup designed specifically for one-year-old ritual, increase the emotional interaction between the product and its users, endow the product more affectional meanings and encourage new age parents to pass on traditional Zua Zou rituals to commemorate the life-cycle milestone of their children.
