Their adherence to the anti-osteoporotic agents dropped significantly with time. Currently, we do not have a united institution offering medical consultation and case management to the patients receiving osteoporotic treatment. Here we proposed a program as “case management service program” to these patients. With this program, we hope that the adherence to osteoporotic treatment in Taiwan could be improved. Research objectives:We are going to evaluate the effectiveness of the “case management service program” for patients with fragile fractures. We also analyze the factors affecting patient’s drug adherence in this study. Research Method:We designed this investigation with the pre-experimental design. In this study, we randomized grouped the 74 enrolled patients into 2 groups. These patients all sustained fragile fractures and were over 50-year-old. The patients in the experimental group received the “case management service program”. The controlled group received traditional medication instructions. The drug compliance, adherence and risks revisiting emergent departments were assessed at the 2nd, 4th, and the 6th month. Result:Comparing with the controlled group, the experimental group had a 14.2% (p< .001) better drug compliance at the 6th month. The adherence to osteoporotic agents were elevated 15% in the experimental group, and the risks of re-visiting the emergent department due to fragile fracture again were decreased by 12% at the 6th month. Our results demonstrated the success of “case management service program”. Conclusion:The “case management service program” could promote the patients’ compliance, drug adherence to osteoporotic treatment. This program also decreased the risks of medical return due to fragile fracture again. The program could be promoted to benefit our patients.
