Summary: | 博士 === 義守大學 === 資訊工程學系 === 104 === In recent years, the development of wireless networks and multimedia techniques provide solutions to achieve various real-time applications in hand-held devices. For video applications, the video compression is the key role to accomplish the data transmission, and it usually required very high computational load. For video compression, the motion estimation is the most time consuming component, therefore many researchers are very interested in this topic [13]. For last two decades, many fast block-matching algorithms have been proposed to reduce the computational complexity, however they sometimes cannot satisfy the desired coding efficiency for the handheld consumer electronic devices.
Computation-aware (CA) concept has been proposed to efficiently allocate computational resources under environments of power constraint. However, the computations of motion estimation could be overloaded in extremely limited computing condition, even using the CA algorithms. In this paper, we introduce a method that achieves motion estimation in the extremely insufficient computational budget. We proposed a modified PCDB list to achieve better visual quality. To decrease the search points requirement, subsampling technique is combined with the proposed algorithm. The proposed method significantly reduces the requirement of search points in computing motion vectors. Satisfactory visual quality and computational consumption can be achieved under the extreme condition.
