The study employed purposeful sampling for qualitative data collection and interviewed three elderly grandparents who helped care for preschool grandchildren. The study concludes as follows: 1) Caring for grandchildren brings happiness and suffering to the late life of elder grandparents. 2) The relations between caring for grandchildren and adjustment to aging included negative physical effect, positive psychological effect (bring about new meanings in life), negative psychological effect (stress and troubles), enhancement of self-worth in social aspect, and promotion of emotional communication in family. According to the findings, some suggestions were made for future studies and elderly grandparents who care for grandchildren.
