Summary: | 碩士 === 玄奘大學 === 應用心理學系碩士班 === 104 === Cross-national marriage has been common in Taiwan since the 90s. Currently, there are 312,320 female Chinese immigrants who came to Taiwan and married Taiwanese males. These women account for 61.66% of all foreign spouses in Taiwan. The goals of this study are to depict the family life situations of cross-national marriage in Taiwan, and to foster more understanding of these Chinese females of cross-national marriage. This study recruited 129 Chinese immigrant mothers who married Taiwanese males. The participants completed 3 survey questionnaires including marital satisfaction scale, quality of co-parenting scale, and maternal stress scale.
The relationships among background variables of the Chinese mothers, their marriage satisfaction, the experiences of co-parenting, and the maternal stress were analyzed.The results show that: (a) A significant postive correlation between the family income and marriage satisfaction, the family income and quality of co-parenting in supports. A significant postive correlation between the family income and maternal stress. (b)The higher education level of Taiwanese spouse is positive corelates between marriage satisfactions in sexual attraction, similarity of values in life, and quality of co-parenting in support dimensions. The higher education level of Taiwanese spouse is also decries the maternal stress. (c) The higher occupational hierarchy of Taiwanese spouse is positive corelates between marriage satisfactions, specialy in sexual attraction, the of economic and social-mental satisfactions. And it shows more supports in quality of co-parenting. (d) The sense of belonging to Taiwan of Chinese spouses is positive correlated to the supports of co-parenting.
The results of this study can facilitate psychosocial prevention plans and intervention programs for family education workers and medical practitioners, as well as social service agencies, groups, and institutions. It is hoped that parents of cross-national marriage can reach out for educational, psychological or medical assistance and social support when there is a need. It is also hoped that immigrant mothers have better social adjustment, and that children of cross-national marriage grow in a healthy family and social environment.
