As well, it is an important parameter in the model simulation of the concentration of pollutants. This study conducted a field study on a quarterly basis in 2015 at Dalia District in Kaohsiung City. Seven days were selected in each season and air soundings were performed twice a day at dawn and noon. The results showed that the use of the early morning sounding data at the Kaohsiung area with the help of Holzworth method can overestimate 150 m of the noon-time mixing height. As well, the sounding data from Taipei area can overestimate the mixing height as large as 700 m. The sounding temperature profiles also indicated that the one obtained in Kaohsiung is almost the same as the one in Taipei when the altitude was lower than 2000 meters above sea level. Finally, the study also indicates that the uncertainties of mixing layer height estimation on the ground concentrations due to the ground sources predicted from an air quality model is relatively small, but is important as from high-stack sources.
