For one of examples of buying textile merchandise, we would recognize the brand names which stuck to garment or something of dressing by the tradmarks. People usually check it indeed before paying money. But the textile functionalism was built on patent technology, its' mass production and marketing will involve a lot of business secret, such as clients and supplier list. In addition, the textile designing content was covered by the copyright protection. The mentioned patent, trademark, copyright, and business secret stated above are the main contents of intellectual property rights.
Intellectual property rights concern huge economic benefits, it's a sharp weapon of marketing. Lawsuit emerges incessantly, the amount of compensation is also considerable. On the other hand, trespasser could rise the risk existence which the product come out of market carriage even business closed down.
Recent years, the law of American trade set on protection of intellectual property rights, USA government has authorized administrative department adopted the trade sanction to countries that was disadvantageous for intellectud property. In the meantime, Taiwan, was also under pressure. Especially, from the time Taiwan joined WTO( World Trade Organization ), we must follow the trade regulation that concerns the lower limit of IP standard. Therefore intellectual property rights are not only related to Taiwan domestic law and economy but also affected Taiwan globe assessment.
Afterwards Taiwan publicized vigorously in addition the textile entrepreneur had patent and trademark realized, started to pay great attention to the patent and the trademark since 1990. The textile entrepreneur started to promote outly every year for the investment researches and develop the new product. Although the initial period investment research and development funds was less but brand-new developed is the most important at least, so started to get the patent in abundance, applied in Taiwan and other countries. Taiwan let the world know their products was no longer counterfeits, but also had the innovation research and development ability.
Taiwan patent and trademark information from Y2000~2014(in the end of June) were analysed. It's development was discussed. We could understand textile patent and tradmark progress.
