When entering a host country, firms should choose optimal entry mode choice, especially between wholly owned subsidiary and joint venture. This study aims to discuss Taiwanese firms’ entry mode choice from entrepreneurial perspective. We attempt to investigate the influence of Entrepreneurial Framework Conditions of host country on Taiwanese firms’ entry mode choice, and analyze if it would be moderated by a nation’s stage of economic development. Combining both national-level and firm-level data, the sample consists of 10,434 entries by 893 Taiwanese firms into 39 countries from 2003 to 2011. Logistic regression analysis was used for testing the empirical reasoning between joint venture and wholly owned subsidiary. The result verifies that the influence of host country EFCs on entry mode choice would be moderated by nation’s different stages of economies.
