Summary: | 碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 景觀設計學系碩士班 === 104 === Bonga Park is located across Longshan Temple. The usage of the park is
continuously got attention. What are the connections between the usage of Bonga Park
and the local culture under the negative impressions?
This study mainly focuses on examining the usage of Bonga Park by its
post-occupancy evaluation through behavioral mapping, in-depth interview, and the
discussion between users’ usage and the local culture. In the beginning, Bonga Park was
feng shui structure of Longshan Temple, which slowly transformed to a public
assembly place, and became to the prototype of park during Taiwan Under Japanese
Rule until now. It’s a curious thing that the usage of Bonga Park has never changed,
despite the variation of space-time. The dynamic here is always active.
The study found the primary user of Bonga Park is the elder and followed by the
homeless. Bonga area was developed in the early stage of Taipei, which has declined
into an older neighborhood after the urban development with a significant increase in
the amount of homeless, and the elder who stays here due to habits. In fact, the usage of
park can also be found easily in historical perspective. These negative stereotypes of the
park have taken in a prejudiced view of the vulnerable. On the other hand, crowds are
brought to Bonga Park by MRT and Longshan Temple, so that make a flexible balance
between publics and local activities. It shows a mutual respect in this park, and makes
this controversial public place stands for multicultural awareness and activeness of the
local. That’s the unique attraction of Bonga Park.
