Because compared with metal or ceramic material, since the 1960s, introduced for clinical use of polymer materials [1,2], polymer biomaterials advantage is easily made into different and complex shapes, at a reasonable cost and with a larger application range of physical and mechanical properties. For some applications, a rigid polymer material closer to the bone as compared to the rigidity of the metal or ceramic material. As shown in Figure 1-1, the polymer tensile strength and modulus of elasticity so that the opportunity to apply to the orthopedic explants.
In this study, to be treated PEEK (polyetheretherketone, PEEK) [22] through the sulfuric acid, so that sulfonated PEEK PEEK having SO3H functional group (sulfonated polyetheretherketone, SPEEK) polymer powder, the s-PEEK powder with dimethyl yl acetamide (Dimethylacetamide, DMAc) was dissolved SPEEK formulated polymer solution and then through SPEEK prepared electrospun nano fiber membrane, and it is deposited on the substrate PEEK, and further integration of the material used in dental bone. Nano fiber membrane having a structure of high surface area, small pore size (pore size), a high porosity. This unique structure simulated extracellular matrix (extracelluar matrix, ECM), to promote cell attachment, migration and proliferation, and its high porosity can enhance nutrient transport to facilitate osteoblast mineralization and further enhance bone regeneration . The PEEK block material as the substrate, and SPEEK fiber membranes deposited on a substrate to obtain a structure shown in Figure 1-2.
S-PEEK fiber membrane provides a high specific surface area and high porosity, a way through this porous structure can be applied to different shapes of the bone implant material. Its structure and etching in sulfuric acid PEEK porous structure similar to [3], but it is easier to control the surface area, pore size and thickness and other parameters, to facilitate the production and promote the growth and activity of the cells. In addition the research project will dimethylacetamide (Dimethylacetamide, DMAc) mixed solution of poly-s-PEEK add another crosslinking agent, and then with electrospinning technique for preparing s-PEEK / 1-4 benzenedimethanol (1, 4-Benzenedimethanol) composite nano fiber [10], in order to increase water features s-PEEK-nm fiber.
