Parent-child relationship can be literally described as the most significant connection to further personality development and influences. Parents from the traditional generation don’t know how to express their cares and loves to their children, not to mention telling them their worries or feelings. Traditional parents take maintaining the stability of the family as their own responsibilities, hence they take their children’s moral and language education seriously in order to sustain the manners between parents and children. However, due to the development of the modern society, modern parents are distinct from the traditional generation on their thinking of the obedience style of parent-child relationship. Instead, they adopt the type of being friends with their children, and develop a harmonious parent-child relationship. In order to discuss the transition of parent-child relationships in different eras, this study uses the books written by contemporary prosers Liu Yong, Hsiao Yeh, Lung Ying-tai, Zhang Da-chun, Yang Chao, and Luo Yi-jun, who differ in generations for twenty years. Through the writers’ process of writing, method of educating, including the attitude to others, the cultivation of character and personality, even the trivia in life, the study observes the ways writers get along with their kids and also the characteristics of their education. From that, the study discusses the differences of parent-child interaction from traditional generation through the changes of the environment, and also the changes of the narrator.
