Summary:碩士 === 大葉大學 === 管理學院碩士在職專班 === 104 === Recently, under the trend of global economic development, the encouragement of supporting Asian potential, as well as business opportunity of “One Belt and One Road” policy in the future, the financial industry is where the clients are. The needs for banking expatriates will continue to grow. Expatriates are expected to stay in different regions, or immersing themselves in different cultures. Thus, having excellent talents is the key to create greater work performance for banking industry. To identify the traits successful expatriates have in common, competency model proposed in other researcher’s papers is applied in this study and compare with real cases, so as to find out the essential competence aspects of expatriates. This study shows that personal character affects expatriates’ work performance the most. Moreover, through the analysis of Big Five personality traits, it is also found that high extraversion and openness to experience are the most momentous factors for being successful expatriates.
