Then, it uses job stress and coping strategies as predictors of job satisfaction. The research surveyed 266 junior high and elementary school special education teachers in Miaoli County. The subjects were given a questionnaire modeled off of Li-Rong Jian’s (2014) “Job Stress Scale” and “Coping Strategies Inventory”. The author then employed descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, correlation, hierarchical regression analysis, as well as other statistical methods of data processing and analysis. The study found as follows:(a)The teachers generally self-evaluated their current job stress, the frequency with which they employ coping strategies, and their overall job satisfaction to be near the middle of a 5 point scale. (b) The demographic variables ‘gender’ and ‘years of teaching experience’ showed significant differences in a teacher’s level of job stress. (c) The demographic variables ‘gender’ and ‘age of the teacher’ showed significant differences in the frequency with which they employ coping strategies. (d) The demographic variables ‘gender’, ‘years of teaching experience’, and ‘professional background’ showed significant differences in job satisfaction. (e) There is a significant negative correlation between job stress and using the coping strategy ‘problem solving approach.’ (f) There is a significant negative correlation between job stress and overall job satisfaction. (g) There is a significant positive correlation between coping strategy use and overall job satisfaction. (h) Among the causes of job stress, ‘curriculum/teaching’ is the most effective predictor of job satisfaction. (i) Among the coping strategies, ‘outside support’ and ‘emotional adjustment’ are the most effective predictors of job satisfaction. (j)Based on the results of this research, taken together with past studies, the author concludes with uggestions for future research and recommendations for education authorities, school administrators, and special education teachers.
