In order to win the table tennis doubles competition, athletes must rely on the execution of skillful tactics. However, most research for table tennis training is focusing on techniques, intead of tactics. Also the analysis methods of table tennis have not explored in the aspects of tactics. Furthermore, the athletes’ personality has an impact on the game performance and results during the competition. But this factor is less to be considered into athletes’ training. Thus the goal of this study is to develop a first-three hit techniques and tactics analysis model for table tennis doubles based on personality. Depending on the analysis which is generated by the model, the results can offer a training guide based on different personality matches for coaches and athletes to realize the tactics. Moreover, according to the results, this study develops a techniques and tactics analysis computer system based on the model. This system can provide coaches a function of recording and inquiring the tactics used by athletes, and let coaches set up suitable training programs in accordance with the results. This study recorded 50 doubles games, and distributed questionnaires. There were four personalities which are more suitable for table tennis, respectively hardiness, autonomy, extraversion and conscientiousness, and then by combining these four personalities into ten personality pairs. After combining the personalities into the model, it came up with the analysis table and the tactic value model, which summarized the tactics recommendation, winning and failure of techniques advice on the basis of personality pairs. The research results are: (a) For the tactics recommendation, offensive tactics are more able to bring the victory. (b) For techniques advice, in addition to the forehand and backhand serve, the suggested techniques for hardiness v.s. hardiness are backhand block and forehand spin; the suggested technique for autonomy v.s. extraversion is backhand flip. (c) Athletes should do more practice on those unskilled techniques, or use less those techniques which were easier to lose points.
