Since many of cardiovascular diseases are resulting from arteriosclerosis, the level of severity of arteriosclerosis is widely used as a reference index for cardiovascular diseases. The aim of this study is to evaluate the level of severity of arteriosclerosis via non-invasive blood pressure monitor, and thus it can be an economic approach for the prevention and tracking the progress of cardiovascular diseases. The base of this study is to evaluate the arteriosclerosis via area of the envelope of the blood pressure waveform. The detection of baPWV higher than 1400 cm/s or ABI smaller than 0.9 has the hit rate of 86% and the accuracy of the whole cases is 90%. In conclusion, the use of area difference of the blood pressure wave, in this study, can effectively detect the high risk patients with arteriosclerosis, and this evaluation technology can be realized in non-invasive blood pressure monitor; thus the technology can provide a convenience and low-cost method for evaluation the severity of arteriosclerosis.
