Summary: | 碩士 === 正修科技大學 === 電機工程研究所 === 104 === Electrical transmission system has often been neglected among the energy-saving topics. It is an inevitable subject to relate the direct influence between heat management to line loss plus conductor impedance to heat dissipating system and power consumption from the electrical transmission system. This thesis will further discuss the electrical characteristic, safety concerns, physical size, insulation material, aesthetic appearance, body construction, upfront investment and maintenance cost of the three most common systems: the old cable/conduit, conventional metal enclosed busway and cast-resin
insulated busway.
The most common device to transmit electricity in electricity distribution facilities is the old wiring cable. Due to the shortcomings of cable’s high conductor impedance causing significant line drop and poor thermal management lead to deterioration of insulator which both shorten its product lifespan. Additional to its low efficiency, cable does not carry the mechanical strength of metal, skin cover can be easily damaged thru unknown force, difficult to troubleshoot when failure occurs, lead to higher maintenance cost over time. Nevertheless, an unorganized pipeline among air conditioning, fire equipment, surveillance, light-current and electrical distribution system can become a big issue causing eddy current effect. Furthermore, cable does not hold resistance toward harmful low frequency electromagnetic waves leaving such exposure to its surrounding and result in potential risk of cancer to humankind. By utilizing the new generation busway system, it does not only carry the features of energy-saving, convenient installation, space saving, longer lifespan, and robust structure compare to cable but also its high resistance to low frequency electromagnetic waves, it is truly the
best option for new green energy system.
