Therefore, it is suggested that nasal polyps are associated with eosinophil infiltration. Although some studies have suggested that nasal polyps are linked to dysregulation of cell adhesion molecules (CAMs), the role of infiltrate eosinophils in expression of CAMs in nasal polys remains sketchy. Aims: This study was aimed to investigate the correlation between expression of CAMs and eosinophil infiltration in nasal polyps. Methods: Nasal polyps were collected from healthy subjects (control group) and chronic sinusitis patients with fungi infection (FI group) or eosinophil infiltration (EI group). Eosinophil infiltration and mucus production were demonstrated by using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and periodic acid staining, respectively. CAM expression was determined by immunohistochemical (IHC) staining using specific antibodies. Results: Our results showed that the highest eosinophil infiltration was observed in EI group among the three groups. In addition, mucus level in EI group was higher than the other group. For CAM expression, ZO-1 expression in EI group was significantly higher than that in the other groups (P<0.05). On the contrary, E-cadherin expression showed insignificantly altered among the three groups. Conclusions: Our findings reveal that ZO-1 expression in nasal polys with eosinophil infiltration is higher that with fungi infection. However, whether the higher ZO-1 expression in nasal polyps is associated with eosinophil infiltration needs further investigation. 高紹軒 2016 學位論文 ; thesis 50 zh-TW
