Advances in information technology (IT) shorten the distance between people, so information can easily be obtained instantly. Uninterrupted service requirements are getting higher and higher when people have higher dependence on IT. Therefore, ISP needs to build the high availability network infrastructure. However, when the services of ISP continue to grow, the planning work of network architecture is more and more difficult. This study is based on experimental method. In this study, we compare various high availability network architectures according to the high availability measurement. The experiment results can be provided to network infrastructure planners as a reference and to improve network infrastructure design. Therefore, planners can plan higher availability and beneficial network architecture. The results show that there is highest network bandwidth usage in the path load balancing network architecture; Planning the layer 3 routing protocol in the access layer can reduce the packet loss rate; The experimental network architecture for integration of chassis and EtherChannel has fastest convergence time when the line is interrupted. The last high availability network architecture is suitable for requirements of path load balancing and line redundant function.
