Description
Summary:碩士 === 長庚大學 === 工業設計學系 === 104 === Affordance is a perceivable quality of an object, which helps us recognize the operating behaviors or functionalities provided by that object. Opening design features are an important element when designing packages. The design of such design features provides a good research medium to study affordance on design. This study investigates how different design features influence the affordance by comparing the opening features on product packages with the opening directions perceived by the participants. In addition, Bayesian approach for cognitive modelling is utilized to analyze the user data as well as to build quantitative models of affordance perception. To study the design features of affordance and design suggestion. Two experiments have been carried out. The first experiment establishes the level of affordance of different opening design features from the participants’ responses. Experiment 2 utilizes the Bayesian model to construct the affordance perception as a probability model. The results of two experiments yield the concept of leveled affordance and 2 design suggestions. Firstly, a power action has a higher affordance than a precision action. Secondly, high affordance features can indicate mutilple opening directions but not exit three. These results can suggest the design features of affordance on packaging design.
