To alleviate the severe attenuation in the mmWave channels, one possible solutios is to deploy large antenna arrays at both transmitter and receiver. Channel estimation and and accurate beamforming techniques therefore arise as two important research topics in this system. In the first part of this thesis, we study the channel estimation problem using hierarchical beambook. Some modification of the existing channel estimation algorithm have been proposed. In the second part, we investigate the RF-baseband co-design problem and propose a method to alleviate the impairments that arise during the RF circuit implmentation.
