In order to analyze and mitigate the voltage flicker produced by electric arc furnace loads, it is necessary to utilize a precise model and voltage regulation device for simulation. This thesis aims to mitigate the voltage fluctuation on an actual power system with dynamic voltage-current model of the AC electric arc furnace. It is known that STATCOM is a powerful device for voltage regulation and reactive power compensation. We observe the mitigation of voltage fluctuation and flicker transfer after incorporating STATCOM into power system. The STATCOM model is implemented by MATLAB/ SIMULINK for a actual power system simulation. The flicker propagation phenomena associated with electric arc furnace in operation are reported.
