The proposed MPSO algorithm enhances the performance of PSO algorithm by adopting the concept of artificial bee colony algorithm, the instant update selection strategy which provides the newest inforamtion for other particles. Finally, the population manager is proposed to adjust the population size to balancing the computation effort and efficiency. Several illustration results of test functions are introduced to show the performance of the MPSO algorithm. Finally, we use the MPSO algorithm to solve the cross-coupled controller design and optimization of CNC machine.
