Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 資訊管理學系 === 103 === Enterprise mergers are a business model widely adopted by insurance companies intending to enhance their business. The organizational structure, products, and processes of an enterprise differ before and after a merger, and problems occur when the existing system cannot support these changes. Because insurance products have long validity periods and cannot be arbitrarily modified, the merged enterprise must integrate the original information systems to reduce human resource cost and integrate product information. Most information systems in the insurance industry are complex and heterogeneous; therefore, the uncertainty in system integration is relatively high. Incrementally completing system integration on time and within budget, by planning, executing, and controlling multiple projects, is an essential task for project managers. This study analyzes an insurance company merger to elucidate the integration of heterogeneous systems, the problems encountered in managing multiple projects, and the resolution of these problems by the project manager. The Harvard case study method is used, including the case text and the teacher handbook, which covers strategic thinking, project management, and the sociotechnical system theory. This study analyzes literature and doctrine cases and combines theory and practice as a reference for future projects.
