In this way, users from diverse fields create and share their professional knowledge, thus enormous socially constructed free form knowledge exists in Web 2.0 realm. However, such social knowledge is widely segregated and spread over the Web in an unstructured and uncontrolled way. It is difficult to be discovered, aggregated, and managed in social spaces for supporting the goals of the learner. In this research, a social learning platform based on ontology for improves the learning efficiency in Web 2.0 is presented. We adopt ontology technology as the modeling tools to formalize and structuralize social knowledge and learning path based on IMS Learning Design specification. A flexible, sharable, and reusable social learning environment which encapsulates structuralized learning experience, resources, and knowledge, can then be built to support ubiquitous self-learning and pursuit of personal interests. Furthermore, in the case that multi-learning path is available; the learning path selection will be made by comparing the similar users’ background in this work. In the end, the ultimate goal is to modeling social knowledge in structured and systematic way as well as to offer accelerated learning path from Web 2.0 to improve effectiveness of social learning.
