Description
Summary:碩士 === 元智大學 === 管理碩士在職專班 === 103 === By developing a case study on the Li &; Fung Group (Li &; Fung), this research explored how a firm, in order to persisit its competitive advantage overtime, shift its resource base to respond to the moving environment. For this intention, the theoretical bases of this research was built on the dynamic view in strategic management, such as the dynamic resource-based view, dynamic capabilities, and the resource-based view. In addition, this research conducted data collection through (1) secondary data available from the annual reports published by Li &; Fung and the books and documents relating to the development of Li &; Fung, and (2) in-depth interviews from various senior and top managers of Li &; Fung. The former was set to record the historetical events and the second part was conducted to understand the strategies of Li &; Fund and how it develops and plans its resource base for the future development. The fundings of this research included: (1) in order to sustain competitive advantage, a firm has to “timely” adapt its resource base in response to the moving environment; (2) adapting resource bases must be the outcomes of the employment of a firm’s dynamic capabilities; (3) as the continuous changes of the operational environment, a firm’s resource management and development should focus on the development of temporary competitive advantage, but not necessarily a sustainable basis; (4) the resource leverage ememplifing a high-order employment of dynamic capabilities of the firm illustrates that a firm optimizes its operational performance through a least level of adjustment of its resource base.
