碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 休閒運動研究所 === 103 === The purposes of this dissertation are exploring whether one's personality and feeling of well-being will be affected by keeping pets in leisure time, and whether different traits and leisure involvement will make the degree of well-being feeling in different results? This research discusses dog or cat owners, and collects information by questionnaire; total 539 valid questionnaires have been used. Statistics methods conclude, descriptive statistics, Structural Equation Modeling, independent sample t test to analyze the results. The results show that traits like neuroticism, openness experience, agreeableness or conscientiousness will positively affect leisure involvement and positively affect owner’s well-being indirectly. In personality trait, cat owners’ personality trait tend to be neuroticism and dog owners’ tend to be extraversion. There is no difference between the two when consider leisure involvement, but there is slightly different when consider well-being. This study found that pet will indeed bring well-being, and the higher level of leisure involvement, the higher well-being they attend. Foster pets can enhance well-being especially for neuroticism, therefore, it is recommended that neuroticism can foster pet, and for neurotic personality people, they are suitable for fostering cat and for extraversion personality people, they are recommended to foster dog.
