The advance of information technologies lends a helping hand with innovations designed to meet the varying demands of nursing duties. The introduction of information systems by hospitals’ management teams inevitably forces changes of existing work practice and challenges that lead to resistance. To understand nursing staff’s attitudes towards a new system and their evaluation of it holds the key to a successful technological adoption. This research looked at factors affecting nursing staff’s acceptance of a nursing information system (NIS). To assess the performance of NIS from the user’s perspective, four aspects were covered: nursing staff’s intention to use, their opinions of the system, their evaluation of the system, and their evaluation of system effectiveness. Questionnaire survey was employed with 120 copies distributed and a 95% recovery rate. According to the results, Perceived Usefulness had a positive effect on Intention to Use; Attitude and Perceived Usefulness had a positive relation with significance; Perceive Ease of Use and Perceive Usefulness were negatively related; Perceived Unfairness had a negative effect on Perceived Usefulness with significance. In conclusion, the survey confirmed that nursing staff’s perception of NIS’s ease of use and usefulness have significant effects on their attitudes toward the system and its use. Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness are the two key factors influencing users’ acceptance of the system at the onset of its introduction. Moreover, nursing staff’s level of education, prior work experience, computer skills, internet/information system familiarity play a role in influencing their acceptance of the NIS. Therefore, it is advised to incorporate NIS-related courses, both theoretical and practical, in the standard nursing training to equip nursing staff with basic technological knowledges and skills in the field. This also helps cultivate a positive attitude toward new technologies and interest in accepting technological supports. I-Chun Lin 林怡君 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 70 zh-TW |
