Subjects and Design:This cross-sectional study used a national representative data from the 2005-2008 Nutrition And Health Survey in Taiwan (NAHSIT).Based on a 24-h dietary recall, those who had 24-h total energy intake between 500 and 5000 kcal were included (n=4508;≧19 y adults). Breakfast skippers were defined as no food intake between 4:00AM-10:30 AM. Food items were divided into 4 food groups:”Grain”, “Soy/Seafood/Meat/Egg”, “Vegetable/Fruit” and “Dairy” based on the food categorization of the National Food Consumption Database. Breakfast dietary patterns were defined as the food group combinations. Logistic regression model and multinomial logistic regression were used to assess the geographical differences in breakfast skipping, and breakfast dietary patterns. Results:In this study, 19.14% of Taiwanese adults skipped breakfast, and there was no significant difference observed between regions. Breakfast dietary patterns were identified: 22.17% adults had “Grain” type, 14.57% had “Grain+ Soy/Seafood/Meat/Egg” type, 9.7% had “Grain+Vegetable/Fruit” type, 9.06% had “Grain+Dairy” type, 26.68% were “Grain+ Soy/Seafood/Meat/Egg +Vegetable/Fruit”, and the rest of combinations were “Other (17.82%)”. Significant differences between regions were observed after covariates were adjusted. The mountainous region residents had higher probability to have “Grain+Vegetable/Fruit” breakfast, and the Penghu residents had lower probability. People in the mid-west region, the southern region and the mountainous region had higher probability to have ”Grain+ Soy/Seafood/Meat/Egg +Vegetable/Fruit” than people in the Penghu islands do. Conclusion:This study found 6 kinds of breakfast dietary patterns in Taiwanese adults’ diets. There was no difference in breakfast skipping by region, but there were significant differences between the distribution of breakfast dietary patterns. Hsin-Jen Chen 陳信任 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 80 zh-TW |
