Summary: | 碩士 === 文藻外語大學 === 多國語複譯研究所 === 103 === This study mainly focuses on exploring the translation strategies of English translation in Rose, Rose, I Love You written by Chen-Ho Wang and translated by Howard Goldblattby using functional theories of translation and exploring the translator’s inner and outer factors toward the textas research methods.Rose, Rose, I Love You was the last novel of Chen-Ho Wang, but his first novel introduced to the Western. Owing to many cultural words in Chinese, Taiwanese,and pidgins, how to translate them has become a challengefor translators.The thesis discusses the essence of Taiwanese Literature, and focuses on the knowledge of the backgroundof Taiwanese Literatureasan important reference when translators are doing translation of literature. First, thestudy explores the research of Taiwanese Literature translation as a way to find out what translation strategies the translator had applied.Moreover, the research of Taiwanese Literature will be included because they will strengthenthe knowledge of Taiwanese Literature in many aspects, as the inner factors of the text,that help translators deal with certain language and cultural issues. Thefunctional theories of translation, especially the theories of Christiane Nord, will be discussed in order to analyze the English translation in Rose, Rose, I Love You.
