碩士 === 臺北市立大學 === 教育行政與評鑑研究所碩士在職專班 === 103 === A Study of Effect of School-Based Featured Curriculum: Taking a Private Elementary School in New Taipei City as an Example Abstrsct By means of case study, the research is aimed to understand the process of the school-based featured curriculum – learning from the mountain – adopted in a private elementary school in New Taipei City, the factors that affect its curriculum development, the difficulty faced, the solutions taken, as well as the effects of the curriculum. The research adopts interview method and documentary research so as to collect the data from the private elementary school in question. The eleven interviewees include the principal, the head of the academic affairs division, the teachers and the parents of the students of Qingshan Elementary School. According to the documents collected – school plan, minutes of the meetings, et al., the research concludes, through integrated analysis, that: 1. The school-based featured curriculum in Qingshan Elementary School goes through, in a cyclical fashion, six stages of development. 2. The factors that affect the school-based featured curriculum are (1) the lead of the principal, (2) the involvement of the teachers, and (3) the resources and the environment. 3. The difficulties of the school-based featured curriculum are: (1) a large number of novice teachers and the consequent challenge to continue the curriculum, (2) the teachers’ inadequacy in mountain-climbing skills, (3) the inconveniences of serving as guides during off days, and (4) the parents’ participation – either too much or too less – in the school activities, and each difficulty above has its corresponding solution(s). 4. The effects of the school-based featured curriculum followed in Qingshan Elementary School are to build the students’ confidence, to promote, by virtue of the curricular development, the professional growth of the teachers, and to obtain the parents’ full approval for the school-based featured curriculum in Qingshan Elementary School. According to the results above, the research would provide practical suggestions to future research and those schools intended to adopt similar school-based featured curriculum such as “learning from the mountain.” Keywords: school-based featured curriculum, the effects of school-based featured curriculum
