The research adopts interview method and documentary research so as to collect the data from the private elementary school in question. The eleven interviewees include the principal, the head of the academic affairs division, the teachers and the parents of the students of Qingshan Elementary School. According to the documents collected – school plan, minutes of the meetings, et al., the research concludes, through integrated analysis, that: 1. The school-based featured curriculum in Qingshan Elementary School goes through, in a cyclical fashion, six stages of development. 2. The factors that affect the school-based featured curriculum are (1) the lead of the principal, (2) the involvement of the teachers, and (3) the resources and the environment. 3. The difficulties of the school-based featured curriculum are: (1) a large number of novice teachers and the consequent challenge to continue the curriculum, (2) the teachers’ inadequacy in mountain-climbing skills, (3) the inconveniences of serving as guides during off days, and (4) the parents’ participation – either too much or too less – in the school activities, and each difficulty above has its corresponding solution(s). 4. The effects of the school-based featured curriculum followed in Qingshan Elementary School are to build the students’ confidence, to promote, by virtue of the curricular development, the professional growth of the teachers, and to obtain the parents’ full approval for the school-based featured curriculum in Qingshan Elementary School.
