The first chapter introduces the main motivation and the purpose of the study, as well as the research methods and procedures during the process. The second chapter discusses Bach''s musical life and compositional background, with the focus on the Lute Suite No. 3. The third chapter outlines the Baroque suites, indicating the impact of the unique style of the dances with an overview of the German lute music and its influences for the future generations. The fourth chapter analyzes Bach''s Lute Suite No. 3, BWV 995, focusing on the manuscript, with the comparison of the lute, cello and guitar''s versions to explore the differences and possibilities of each instrument in actual performances. The fifth chapter focuses on the musical analysis and performance practice interpretation of the composition, including the motive of each movement, ornaments in the music, and rhythmic patterns. The final chapter concludes the importance of Bach''s Lute Suite No. 3 and advises guitar players to compare the manuscript with different instrument versions in order to pursue the most suitable interpretation according to the composer’s intention.
