With Hidden, Preparadise Sorry Now, and Alice in Bed, these three models for case analysis, this report aims to document both the rehearsal process and the details of these three performances to portray the relationship between actor self and character self.
Hidden is a solo performance. While building up the character for this performance, I traced out my journey from amateur to fledging actress. During the process of creating Hidden, I discovered that actor’s personality has a close affinity to the shaping of character on stage. Preparadise Sorry Now provides me with a shock lesson. Confronted with actor’s identity crisis during the preparation for this production, I reflected on my habitus as an actress. Last but not least, Alice in Bed, my final-year project, serves as a touchstone by which not only am I able to examine every turning point of my apprenticeship at TNUA, but also stride out to explore a different kind of acting.
