Through the deliberate reconstruction (or deconstruction) of the Music concepts and elements, that one can create broader aesthetics of art and evoke human emotions.
Similar conceptual approaches was also incorporated in contemporary performing arts; through movements and dance, the choreographer would derive abstract movements and bodily form from audible sound and music, which would allow the audience to comprehend the abstract representations from the choreography.
A case study on Shih’s ‘Social Soundscapes’ (MAD Physical Theatre, Tai-Chung) was carefully conducted. Various aspects of Shih’s stylistic audio construction and physical elements will also be discussed. This dissertation will also discover the inseparatable connection between music and choreography, what are the conceptual and philosophical influences between the two in order to spark new musical directions and creativities.
