From this social movement to the bird’s eye view of Taiwan was what inspired my creation. Using the map’s form of expression and pictorial elements to signify my homeland and its direct connection with the “earth”, it gives homeland and society a clearer outline. To convey my concept and add depth to my creation, I studied related works on “Taiwan map” and “social phenomena” to clarify my creative thoughts. In terms of theory, I studied works by sociologist Theodor Adorno and the “sociology of art” to explore social criticism through artistic expression; and in terms of the form of expression, I studied “imagery” and “history of Taiwan map” to discover social symbolism and symbols in everyday life. Analyzing social phenomena to add depth to my creation and understanding the principle of “imagery” so as to utilize it in my creation, I hope to achieve creative development that balances concern for my homeland and a starting point of interwoven network of memories of growing up in Taiwan. A combination of different metal art techniques, including reticulationsilver, photo-etching, die forming and water transfer printing, are also used to represent the rise and fall of the topography from a bird’s eye view. It is hoped that my creation will draw greater public attention to social issues. Wang, Mei-Jen 王梅珍 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 108 zh-TW |
