This study design and plan a low-cost and intuitive patrol system that can achieve a robust security management mechanism. The security patrol system needs to fulfill four functions and they are security patrol mechanism, the on- and off-duty status of the security guards, task status of the on-duty security guards and emergency report status. This study proposes UML to describe and analyze the patrol system. Uniform and intuitive graphs are used to clearly and intuitively plan the system so that the system development team has a common standard language. The modeling process adopts four steps that include analysis, design, implementation and testing. According to the requirements and the operation mode, the modeling form static and dynamic structures and plan out Use Case Diagrams, Component Diagrams, Class Diagrams, Deployment Diagrams, Activity Diagrams and Sequence Diagrams, followed by blue prints generated from the analysis and design to complete hardware, firmware and software. The results show that UML has the advantages such as allowing us to clearly understand the communication between each component, clear architecture of the designed hardware, modular features of the written program, reusability and easy to expand. And finally, it provides a low-cost system tool that can achieve a security management mechanism. Easily operated by security patrols, all reporting can be done by fingertip, and then main control program in the remote server at the head office can immediately compile the collected information. Reporting and response are in real-time, providing complete control of the task status of every on-duty security patrol.
