When writing as a notebook, the E-book readers will be used with electromagnetic pen together. When reading, certainly, users can use fingers to touch the IO function keys and slider touch, such kind of the basic functional needs. The module in this case, compared with other touch technologies such as resistive touch, capacitive touch, infrared touch electromagnetic touch, can fulfill the basic touch needs for EPD reader market, because of lower price. In this study, I try to use a low-cost PCB PAD copper conductor as touch points (Touch PAD), using PCB printed circuit board manufacturing process to make the multi-plate capacitive touch board. After that, I try to assembly several different versions of the capacitive touch signal board with EPD panel by glue, the PET substrate frame stickers, to make capacitive touch module and make further tests. Using mechanical arm to control capacitance touch pen, it can be a test and verification tool to qualify the sensitivity and other parameters of capacitive touch EPD module. I’m able to find out the best result accordingly. The capacitive touch sensing pressure is around 30 ~ 40g, so the module can have precise touch position. The data will be best and accuracy by using 41 sets of φ7mm interlaced signal capacitive touch board with one microcontroller (MCU) controlled. Low-cost touch technology of EPD module development is to forfill cost-down trend of ebook reader product roadmap and user base needs.
