Some noises make passengers anxious or uncomfortable, so this study aims to measure sound field powered by a vehicle when operating. In this research, the HATS (Head and Torso Simulator) and another microphone are measured to both interior and exterior of the vehicle, and then the noise in this sound field is analyzed. The sound field can be recorded while the engine is running at idle speed, 1500 rpm, 2500 rpm and 3500 rpm. The decibel values are measured that exterior noises are higher than interior noises, and they are increased as the engine speed increased. The coherence can be analyzed on noise spectrum, and the values of coherence of frequencies add by the noise while the engine is running at high speed. On the aspect of sound quality, as the loudness increased, the sharpness decreases as the time engine’s running speed increased, but roughness and fluctuation strength values vary randomly at different situations. Also, the sound editing is operated by means of using a real-time filter, and can remain the sound in low-frequency domain. Because of the main interior noise of the vehicle is mainly concentrated in low-frequency domain, this sound editing way makes good reduces on these noises. The jury test evaluates feeling of like and dislike of human, then judge the differences of all kinds of situations, and the whole tests can be respected as a benchmark for the vehicle’s interior design.
